Industrial Chemistry, Year 12 Chemistry

Industrial Chemistry is the elective module most commonly selected by high schools teaching Year 12 Chemistry. The module builds on the idea of chemical equilibrium to predict the products of a reaction using an equilibrium constant. In addition to the equilibrium concept, the module covers several industrial processes used in the production of useful chemicals. These processes include the production of sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide, as well as the Solvay process for producing sodium carbonate, and saponification for producing soap.
